Music conversion

Find a Music Conversion or Piano Practice Workflow

A directory of 114 music-file and practice questions, grouped by input and linked to practical guides, examples and available Clef tools.

The short answer

Choose your input and the problem you need to solve. These guides explain the next steps and limitations; available browser tools are linked separately.

A curated directory of related user tasks. Similar questions share a substantial guide rather than separate duplicate pages.

Start with the file you actually have

For a first conversion, start with the MIDI guide, audio guide, PDF guide, or tab-file guide. The directory below routes more specific problems to the relevant workflow. It is a guide index, not a file-upload service.

Readable worksheets and note names

Choose readable note labels, staff landmarks and print size. These guides explain how to prepare an exercise manually; they do not certify accessibility or automatically simplify a score.

Recordings, melody and harmony

Audio contains sound, not encoded note events. Use these guides to separate listening, transcription and score correction; Clef does not accept audio uploads.

Chord charts and key changes

Chord symbols identify harmonic material. Choose voicings and rhythm explicitly, then use the browser tools where supported.

Notation formats and export repair

Choose a format that preserves the information you need. A new filename extension does not convert a file.

MIDI notation troubleshooting

MIDI performance data needs decisions about rhythm, voices, staff assignment and spelling before it becomes readable notation.

Turn musical patterns into practice

Extract a small reading or rhythm problem manually, practise it, and return to the original score. Clef cannot import the source piece.

Scans, PDFs and editable notation

A PDF or photo needs recognition or manual entry before its notation can be edited. Check every converted passage against the original.

Tablature, tuning and piano pitches

Read the tuning, string order, fret and capo before mapping pitches. Plain text tab usually lacks reliable durations.

Sources and checking notes

The linked guides contain format references and original worked examples.

Put it into practice

Connect the notes to the keys.

Clef offers short piano drills, including MIDI input for supported pitch exercises. It is a practice companion, not a song course or a sheet-music library.
